The Project

ICAP’s Chief Operating Officer enlisted the support of Graduate Solutions in 2005 to establish and build the first graduate recruitment programme into its voice and electronic broking businesses. As the world’s largest inter dealer broker ICAP wished to up-grade the broker and support functions population via a sustained programme of graduate recruitment and development in to the three main regions: Europe, USA and Asia. Working closely with senior management and HR, Graduate Solutions advised on building skill profiles, creating person and job specifications, creating a firm wide and divisionally specific competency framework, devising a marketing strategy and identifying target campuses worldwide, executing a campus outreach programme, including marketing presentations, careers fairs and ancillary events. We also advised and project managed the implementation of a global applicant handling portal and creation of a careers website and substantive marketing collateral.

In the first year, ICAP received 1,700 applications for its global programmes, and the Graduate Solutions’ team managed the process of screening and first round interviewing before designing and facilitating alongside ICAP at assessment centres in London and New York. We advised on the structure and content of a global orientation programme, including selection of third party training vendors and an ongoing mentoring/development programme. Graduate Solutions continues to support ICAP in its graduate recruitment efforts 5 years on. The organisation is now a recognised employer ‘brand’ and a new award winning marketing campaign and website was launched in 2010.
